I am pleased to welcome you to the first edition of this newsletter!

You might be wondering what motivates me to create this newsletter. The answer is complex—and that's exactly what this is about.

In a rapidly changing world, there are countless topics that deserve our attention. Whether it's sustainable lifestyles, inspiring stories, or exciting innovations – my goal is to create a space where we can discover, learn, and grow together.

HISTORY: FROM 1 TO 2

Greenbird was founded in 2016 by Dr. Harald Peterka with the vision of revolutionizing the cleaning market. Through synergies and our IT and hardware expertise, we successfully entered and established ourselves in the digital signage market.

In an increasingly digitalized world where innovation and specialization are inextricably linked, the decision to separate digital cleaning and digital signage was a strategically important step. This division allows us to specifically address the needs of both markets and optimally leverage our strengths in each area.

Depending on the focus – hardware or software – a specialized team applies its expertise to implement customized solutions of the highest quality.

THE GOOD QUESTION: IS IT WORTH BUYING AN SLA FOR SMALL BUSINESSES?

A Service Level Agreement (SLA) defines service requirements such as availability and response times. For small businesses that rely on stable IT, an SLA can be useful. It helps with cost planning and ensures high system availability.

An SLA ensures quick response times to problems and minimizes downtime, which can be costly for small businesses. IT issues can be outsourced, allowing the company to focus on its core business. Although SLAs incur additional costs, for many, the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, as professional services provide a reliable foundation. Overall, an SLA ensures the smooth running of business processes.

TRENDS: SENSORS & INTERACTIVITY

The digitalization of the signage market is bringing innovative solutions such as mini- and micro-LED displays, which offer improved image quality and lower energy consumption. Companies are increasingly demanding flexible, seamlessly integrated digital signage solutions, with cloud connectivity playing a central role and enabling efficient management.

A growing segment is self-order kiosks, which have seen increased demand due to the pandemic to enable contactless and efficient service options. Interactive features and sensor technology enhance the user experience and enable targeted data collection for personalized content and more precise analytics.

Industries such as retail and advertising are using these technologies to optimize their marketing strategies and increase customer loyalty. Despite global uncertainties, the market is expected to grow because digital signage is considered a cost-effective alternative to print advertising and can be flexibly adapted to new needs.

Smart service displays offer a wide range of applications – from interactive information stations in public spaces to digital menus in restaurants or self-service kiosks in stores. In smart building systems, they use sensors to monitor temperature, humidity, and people counting, thus increasing efficiency.

Digital signage solutions offer companies numerous opportunities to optimize communication and operational processes and enable targeted customer communication in real time.

PROJECTS: HOSPITALS

Smart Service Displays improve patient care and internal processes in healthcare. They provide patients with relevant information about their stay, treatment appointments, and healthcare services, and promote rapid communication.

The displays enable efficient administration and appointment booking, reducing waiting times and reducing staff workload. They can monitor patients and provide real-time data to medical staff.

Demand-based cleaning, supported by sensors, detects cleaning needs and uses resources efficiently, improving hygiene.

Smart displays optimize internal communications and training materials, improving processes and enhancing the patient and staff experience while further increasing overall system efficiency.

IMPORTANT: DATA PROTECTION

Data protection burdens are steadily growing, especially for small and medium-sized businesses. A study by a digital association shows that 94 percent of surveyed companies consider the burden to be high, while two-thirds report that it has increased in the past year.

Many companies have had to abandon innovative projects due to the strict regulations. We recommend setting priorities and starting with the basic requirements of the GDPR, making optimal use of existing software solutions, and training employees in responsible data handling to increase efficiency and minimize risks. A clear strategy for implementing data protection requirements can help companies overcome these challenges while successfully driving forward their digital transformations.

DEVELOPMENTS: MUNICIPALITIES AND THEIR NEW SELF

Digital out-of-home (DOOH) differs from digital signage, which is primarily used indoors such as shops, hotels, and doctor's offices. DOOH uses screens in high-traffic public spaces to reach a broad audience.

In recent years, many outdoor advertising companies have converted their prime locations to digital formats. Investments in modern infrastructure and urban furnishings, combining public design with digital consumer communication, create additional value for the public. New technologies and projects, such as programmatic advertising, make digital outdoor advertising even more targeted, smarter, and interactive, thus improving the user experience and placing advertising messages more effectively.
